Arsenal v Tottenham Betting Preview
Written By Harvey T  | 13th November

For years the North London derby, particularly at Arsenal was near enough a banker for the Gunners. These days things are very different however and Spurs will rock up at the Emirates on Saturday lunchtime confident they can come away from the game with all three points. Mauricio Pochettino is yet to win this fixture on Arsenal turf however and Arsene Wenger will be desparate to keep the boo-boys at bay in the game that matters most for Arsenal fans. Our preview looks ahead at the best bets for the North London derby.

History suggests the draw

In the last three seasons, this game has ended in a draw and a 1-1 scoreline all three times also. Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs side are extremely well-drilled and whilst their away record at the so-called 'Big Six' isn't exactly spectacular, they know how to go to the Emirates and get a result. The dynamic of this fixture is however somewhat changing and whilst Spurs fans used to be grateful to take anything from a game away at Arsenal, there's now an expectancy. They'll have each of their big guns back for this game with Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Harry Winks all expected to return from the injury issues that forced them to miss the two England friendlies. Funny that...

Tottenham have been pretty defensively sound with five clean sheets in their last eight games. You therefore have to give some credence to the draw especially given Arsene Wenger will be under the usual pressure if his side lose this one. It's not really in Wenger's nature to be cautious in a home game but a loss here would see Arsenal fall seven points adrift in the table already! This season Arsene Wenger has paired Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey in midfield in the big games and has not been scared of leaving Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez on the bench. Will he select those two in tandem with Alexandre Lacazette in this encounter? Or will he play it a bit more compact?

Kane to score again?

Harry Kane seems to love playing against other sides from the capital. In his 30 London derbies to date, he has 21 goals and has scored in his last five consecutive appearances against Arsenal. He seems to thrive on the big stage and having seemingly got himself back to full fitness, he's obviously going to be the main danger man for Spurs here. As for Arsenal, they are expected to have Shkodran Mustafi back from injury and the German's return to the back three coupled with Arsenal's more measured approach in these games could see them match Spurs man for man. The aforementioned duo of Ramsey and Xhaka in midfield could be pivotal as they will have to be wary of Spurs' midfield. With the runs of Alli in behind and Christian Eriksen looking to dictate play, they will have to make sure they are diligent in their role of screening the Arsenal defence.

MonsterBet's Prediction & Betting Tips

With both of these teams likely to deploy formations with three-man defences, their is the real possibility they could cancel one another out. Spurs are a tough side to break down on the road but have they got the belief to go away from home and win these kind of results? We think the draw is the sensible bet here.
